Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

IC-38 Exam Prep ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, who we work with, and your rights over your data.

2. Data We Collect

Name and email address — when you sign in with Google
Email address and password — if you create an account using email and password. Your password is securely hashed by our authentication provider (Supabase) and is never stored or visible to us in readable form.
Mobile phone number — for OTP-based (one-time password) sign-in
City and state — only if you choose to enter them (used for batches and leaderboards)
Practice history, quiz results, mock scores, bookmarks and progress — to track your preparation
Your exam scorecard — only if you choose to upload one to claim a gift. This includes the scorecard image and the details printed on it (your name, registration number, URN / IRDA number, marks, test centre and test date), plus the delivery name, phone number and address you give us so we can post the gift. See section 10.
Job-application details — only if you apply for an insurance job or agent role through the Career section. This includes your name, mobile number, date of birth, state, experience level, and the resume / CV file you upload. See section 11.
A device notification token — only if you enable push notifications
Basic device information — for app functionality and stability

We do not collect your precise location (GPS), and we do not process any payments inside the app. IC-38 Exam Prep offers both free and premium features; any payment for premium access or a live class is made directly to us via UPI, outside the app.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

Create and manage your account (via Google, email/password, or phone OTP sign-in)
Provide personalized practice recommendations and track your progress
Operate trainer batches and leaderboards you join
Send practice reminders and premium-expiry reminders (only if you enable notifications, or by SMS if you have provided a phone number)
Verify a scorecard you upload and post you a gift (see section 10)
Process and match a job or agent-role application, and contact you about relevant openings (see section 11)
Improve app features and content

4. Data Storage

All your data is stored in India (Mumbai region) using Supabase infrastructure. We do not transfer your data outside India without your explicit consent.

5. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)

You have the right to:

Access your personal data
Correct inaccurate data
Erase your data (right to erasure)
Export a copy of your data
Withdraw consent at any time
Nominate a person to exercise rights on your behalf

6. Content Accuracy Disclaimer

The questions, answers, and explanations in this app are prepared for educational purposes based on IC-38 syllabus materials available at the time of content creation. Insurance regulations and exam syllabi are subject to periodic revision by IRDAI and the Insurance Institute of India. We make reasonable efforts to keep content updated; however, we cannot guarantee that all content reflects the most current regulatory framework. Users are advised to verify critical information with official IRDAI publications and their training provider.

7. Service Providers We Use

We use the following third-party service providers (data processors), which process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies:

Supabase — database, authentication (Google, email/password and phone sign-in) and file storage (supabase.com)
Google — Google Sign-In authentication (we receive your name and email)
2Factor.in — SMS OTP delivery for phone sign-in, and SMS reminders where applicable
Firebase (Google) — push notification delivery, if you enable notifications

These providers act as our processors and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

8. Data Retention & Account Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly inside the app: Profile → Delete Account (type DELETE to confirm). You may also request deletion by emailing us. When you delete your account, your identity and all personal data are permanently removed.

9. Data Sharing with Business Partners

To keep this app free for all users, we may share aggregated or anonymised data — such as study patterns, topic preferences, and general demographic trends that do not identify you personally — with insurance companies, financial-services providers, and business partners. This helps them offer relevant insurance products, career opportunities in the insurance sector, and educational resources.

We will share your personal contact information (such as your name and phone number) with insurance companies or their authorised representatives only if you explicitly opt in — for example, by submitting a job or agent-role application through the Career section (see section 11), or by asking to receive information about insurance career opportunities or product offerings. We do not sell your individually identifiable personal data to third parties, and we never share it without your consent.

You can opt out of partner communications at any time by contacting us at the email below, and we will stop sharing your contact information going forward.

10. Scorecard Uploads & Showcasing Your Success

If you pass the IC-38 exam, you may choose to upload your scorecard to claim a gift. We use it to verify your result and to post the gift to you. Uploading a scorecard is entirely voluntary.

We never publish your scorecard image, your registration number, or your URN / IRDA number. These are held in secure storage, used only to check your result, and are visible only to us.

The upload form has an optional tick-box asking whether we may feature your success. Only if you tick it, we may show your first name, last initial, city and score — for example, "Ramesh R., Hyderabad — 42/50" — on our website and social media, to encourage other students. We do not show your full name, contact details, address, or any part of the scorecard itself.

The tick-box is optional and it is unticked by default. You receive the gift whether you tick it or not, and leaving it unticked has no effect on your account, your gift, or anything else in the app.

You can withdraw this permission at any time by emailing us at the address in section 13, and we will remove your entry. Deleting your account also removes it.

11. Job Applications & the Career Section

The Career section lets you apply for insurance-agent positions or insurance-sector jobs. This is entirely voluntary. If you apply, we collect the details you enter — your name, mobile number, date of birth, state and experience level — and the resume / CV file you choose to upload.

Your resume and application details are held in secure, private storage and are not publicly accessible. We use them to build a candidate pool and to match you with relevant openings. By submitting an application you are asking us to share your application and contact details with insurance companies and their authorised recruiters for the purpose of matching you to jobs — this is the opt-in described in section 9.

You can ask us to remove your application and resume at any time by emailing the address in section 13. Deleting your account also removes your application data.

12. Children's Privacy

This app is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us data, please contact us immediately.
